Haven't heard much live music.. not anyone who is popular enough to be known anyway...
Based on recordings I've heard, maybe really early jackson 5 stuff or a group like the stylistics....
Any group that can Harmonize but I don't think they make them like that anymore |

I saw the stylistics in 1974 and yes they were good , seen so many great gigs over the years 3 that stand out all around the same time were -
Bob Marley and the wailers Hammersmith odeon 1976
David Bowie wembley arena 1976
the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Buzzcocks @the screen on the green islington
but there are loads more should try and think of a top ten really, seen UB40 a couple of times dubz, they are always good. |

You beat me to it Tunez! Don't forget the epic visuals and strobe lights. Behind them: Radiohead, Pixies and I'll never forget when I saw the Arcade Fire just before they got zapped by MTV2. And early Bloc Party gigs were always good too. This was probably because they are better suited to small indoor shows rather than massive festival outdoor stuff
And yes, seeing DIOYY at some 100 capacity club was epic. Sardines in a tin come to mind.
However these shows have nothing on the hundreds of epic nights out seeing world class DJs in dingy clubs with leaking air conditioners and unfinished walls _________________ http://www.scum.co.uk |

COOL I'm looking forward to UB40 more n more and Eddy Grant ~i dont wanna dance, dance with ya baby no more hehe
You saw Bob Marley Live WOW, Lucky man!!!! I don't think any band could top that, i'd give my left arm and leg and right ones too to have had that pleasure.
I saw the Wailers Live, one of Bob Marleys sons, he looked like Bob and moved like him, stomping and shaking his dreads all over da place. Excellent music, Was a Great night!! |

I saw Radiohead a few times and that was pretty wicked...Blur were absolutely great as well; I saw them in Wolverhampton and I would say that it was better than both the Hyde Park and Glastonbury shows that I saw on T.V.
Saw Alice in Chains with William DuVall (and not Layne Staley, unfortunately) it was one of the best I've been to, gonna see them again in December.
Ska Cubano I've seen a couple of times, too. Really good band to see live just because you can't help but dance.
As far as DJs etc. go I've had some great nights: Hazard, Pendulum, Calibre/Commix/Marcus Intalex and Bar9/MRK1 (just last weekend) are some of the ones that stick out in the mind.

Metallica always put on a good show but have never been a great band as such live (they've always described themselves as "four drunken idiots trying to play in time"), Iron Maiden shows are always spectacular, but one stand out show of theirs was when they played as Charlotte and the Harlots at Queen Mary College in London. That was an amazing gig, 600 capacity (about 3000 people outside without tickets...) warm up gig for the Seventh Son tour.
Seen loads of great gigs at the Marquee (before it got turned into a feckin wine bar) - BoltThrower, Cynic, Annihilator, Acid Reigns final gig, Alice In Chains supporting Megadeth. The Astoria in Charing Cross was great too...alas that also has been redeveloped. _________________

| Loz have to agree the marquee used to be great for bands for many years, and like others have said some of the best times in the last 20 years have been getting off your face at raves and large and small clubs listening to some excellent DJ's, great times. |

That's where I saw AiC, approximately a year before they redeveloped it. I also saw Mudhoney there (also one of my fave gigs, thanks for reminding me)...pretty good venue by my reckoning. _________________

This is the bit where I smugly say "ah but not the proper AiC.....not the one with Layne Staley singing". _________________
